Foreword by the President and the Vice-President

Zonta Club St.Pölten Area was founded by dedicated women from the St.Pölten and Krems region in 1994. The ambitious goal was - and is - to support and strengthen women from the region and worldwide through voluntary work.

With pride and joy, we look back on successful projects such as our annual charity concerts, which supports aid organizations in the region as well as international Zonta projects. During the last years  the focus of our activities has been in the engagement about “violence against women” by "Zonta says NO", in adult education "Young refugee women were trained as refugee workers" and our annual financial aid to the “Frauenhaus St. Pölten” (Women's Shelter St.Pölten).

There is still a lot to do: women are still being paid unfairly in relation to men. Many women are still victims of violence. Women are still oppressed worldwide. In this very troubled world, aid organizations - such as Zonta International - are required to provide an important platform for projects to empower women and strengthen the position and rights of women.

In 2019, our Club St.Pölten Area celebrates its 25th anniversary, while Zonta International celebrates its 100th anniversary.

We look forward to meeting dedicated women who are interested in joining our club in order to support our ambition to empower women regionally and internationally.
